About

Etienne started drawing when he was very young. He then slid into his teenage years where drawing was an outlet for letting out his negative thoughts. Soon after, Etienne became a professional chef where he traveled around the world to perfect his skills.

He suffered from a bout of depression in his late 20's and then started getting back into drawing as his therapy. With a lot of encouragement from his close circle, he started doing it more seriously; learned acrylic and oil painting and reached out to different galleries.

In 2018, Z Gallery Arts took him on as a resident artist. The gallery hosted his first  solo show, which exhibited eight of Etienne's largest oil paintings. His artwork was also shown and sold in different art fairs, including Context New York. Since then, he has started to learn digital painting. He now enjoys both traditional and digital, in which he spends multiple hours a day practicing.

Etienne's aspiration is clear and simple: become a full-time artist and a master portraitist. Both are achievable by hard work and dedication, which are easy to do when passionate. He seeks beauty mostly in femininity. Sometimes dark, sometimes light, his work evolves depending on his internal speech.

"Happiness does not really depend on objective conditions of either wealth, health or even community. Rather, it depends on the correlation between objective conditions and subjective expectations.” ― Yuval Noah Harari
